Our approach on the gym floor is built around a clear hierarchy of physical qualities that underpin performance in the golf swing.

Level 1 is mobility and stability. This is the foundation. We use gym-based movements to address restrictions, asymmetries and limitations through targeted prehab and rehab work. The goal here is simple: create a body that can move well and control those movements.

Level 2 is strength, or force production. Once the body can move well, we focus on developing the ability to produce force. Strength gives the athlete the capacity to apply pressure into the ground and create the forces required for speed.

Level 3 is power, or rate of force development and rate coding. This is the ability to produce force quickly. In golf, it’s not just about how much force you can produce, but how fast you can express it.

Level 4 is overspeed and sport-specific movement. Here we focus on training the body to move faster while reinforcing efficient sequencing and club delivery patterns that transfer directly to the golf swing.

Every movement we prescribe on the gym floor fits somewhere within this hierarchy. While there are many different ways to develop mobility, stability, strength and power, the key principle remains the same: the exercises we choose must ultimately improve how the body moves in the golf swing.

A good strength program can make an athlete stronger or more powerful. But in golf, the real question is whether those improvements translate into better sequencing, better club delivery and ultimately more speed and control in the swing.

That’s where our approach differs. As both PGA professionals and strength coaches, we bridge the gap between physical training and the golf swing itself. The goal isn’t simply to get stronger in the gym. The goal is to build physical qualities that directly improve how you move and perform on the golf course.

Every athlete responds differently to training, so the exact movements may vary. But the objective never changes — develop the physical qualities that allow the body to sequence better, deliver the club more efficiently and ultimately produce more speed

  • Traditional strength training can make an athlete stronger, more powerful and more resilient. Those qualities are important, but in golf the real question is whether those physical improvements actually translate into better swing mechanics and better performance on the course.

At Ultimate Golf Performance, our approach combines elite strength and conditioning with deep expertise in the golf swing itself. As PGA Professionals and performance coaches, we understand both the physical and technical demands of the game.

All training is supported by structured testing and analysis. This allows us to ensure that the physical qualities we are developing on the gym floor — strength, power and resilience — are actually transferring into improved sequencing, club delivery and speed in the golf swing.

The goal isn’t simply to get stronger in the gym.
The goal is to build physical qualities that directly improve how you move and perform in your golf swing.

    Initial Onboarding (New Clients)
All new face-to-face clients start with a structured onboarding process:

    • Session 1: Swing analysis and baseline testing

    • Session 2: Body screening (mobility, stability, strength)

    • Session 3: Program build tailored to your body and swing

The goal is to identify what’s limiting your speed, force production and efficiency, then build a clear plan around it.

    Face-to-Face Coaching (Ongoing)
For golfers training at our Cheltenham facility:

    • 1:1 or small group sessions

    • Strength and power development

    • Speed training (rate of force development)

    • Ongoing monitoring and program adjustments

    Online Coaching
For golfers training anywhere in the world:

    • Fully customised golf-specific programs

    • Performance tracking and updates

    • Ongoing coaching support via our app

    • Ongoing remote programming

    • Periodic in-person check-ins

    Power Testing
Standalone testing sessions to assess performance:

    • Force plate testing (vertical, lateral and rotational forces)

    • Key metrics including peak force, sequencing, DSI and RSI

This allows us to identify where you may be losing speed and what to prioritise in training.

    Golf Swing and Performance Integration
What separates us from a standard gym:

    • Swing analysis using launch monitor and video

    • Integration of gym data with swing mechanics

The focus is not just getting stronger, but making sure it carries over into your golf swing.
